Created his first feature film at the age of 19, worked in a wide variety of professions such as street worker, journalist, estate manager, district heating inspector, youth worker, in parallel he shot feature films as well as documentaries, among them ‘The dream that remains’, a film about the Viennese community housing estate Trabrenngründe, “which moves without much effort from social study to gentle real satire. A surprise success for domestic cinema, in art value and in audience numbers, and a film as politically alert as it is amusing.”[1]
His films usually highlight a social flashpoint, which he brings to the screen, documentary or fictional, by means of analytical narrative structure. His feature film ‘White Cherries’ (with Martin Puntigam, Josef Hader, Maria Hofstätter and others) advanced to become the most successful up-and-coming film in Austrian cinema to date. His works received numerous festival invitations (for example San Francisco, São Paulo, Saarbrücken, Istanbul, Paris (Cinéma du réel)) and awards. Since many years he has been creating useful design objects for a global clientele.
